A tall fast bowler, Ben Cutting impressed the coaches at the Centre of Excellence during his stint there in 2007. Cutting was picked for the programme a year after representing the Australia Under-19 team that made the semi-finals of the Youth World Cup in Sri Lanka and was regularly used in the recent Emerging Players Tournament. Capable of creating steepling bounce from his 1.92m height, Cutting has a slightly mechanical action and has already suffered with back troubles. He earned his second rookie contract at Queensland for 2007-08 and was handed a Pura Cup debut in the opening match of the season.
