Andy Delmont is a middle-order batsman on a rookie contract with South Australia. He describes himself as "chilled out", which was put to the test with his very first ball for the first team, a hat-trick delivery in the one-day tournament against Victoria in October 2007. True to his word, he fended it off and played well enough in a losing cause and went on to play three limited-overs matches with a best of 33. He made his maiden half-century, against Tasmania, again in a losing cause and made two half-centuries in six Pura Cup appearances. He can also bowl, offering left arm fast-medium. He plays club cricket for University, works hard on his fitness and also enjoys squash, surfing and water-skiing. Cricinfo staff April 2008
