 Profile

Jason Borgas won a South Australia contract at the end of 2006-07 but couldn't capitalise in 2007-08, with only one first-class appearance where he made 1 and 8 in the opening game against Victoria. He didn't play in the one-day side at all, but his club side Sturt profited, including a season topscore of 151.

He had been included in the Redbacks side the previous year following a series of top-order dramas and form slumps. One of those problems was a shoulder injury to Jason's younger brother, Cameron Borgas, meaning the siblings missed the chance to play together at state level. That finally came in 2007-08, in the Victoria defeat, but neither made it into double figures, with Cameron making a pair.

The elder Borgas had made a good fist of his initial first-class season, posting 66 and 68 against Victoria at Melbourne, 83 in the Redbacks' only win of the summer against Western Australia, and 95 in a five-and-a-half-hour effort at Brisbane. He played only five games but finished fourth on South Australia's run tally with 408 at 40.8. A tenacious left-hand opener, Borgas added much-needed stability to the line-up and proved capable of anchoring an innings.
