Aaron Nye stormed into the Pura Cup with a fine 102 on debut against New South Wales in 2003-04 as he attempted to upstage the final state game of Steve and Mark Waugh. Despite such an assured entry, he has added only three first-class games and eight limited-overs matches. However, his offspin played a crucial part in the 2006-07 FR Cup final victory, with 3 for 55 at the MCG, and he regained the state contract he lost the previous year. The winner of the Peter Burge Medal in Brisbane grade cricket in 2002-03 and 2006-07, Nye, who is versatile with the bat and strong in the field, toured India with the Academy in 2003. He has also enjoyed the privilege of caddying for his world-class golfing mate Adam Scott.
