Ryan Harris smashed a six from the final delivery to secure victory for South Australia against Queensland but the win came at a cost for the Redbacks after Shaun Tait left the ground with a hamstring injury. Matthew Elliott's second Ford Ranger Cup century this season put South Australia in a winning position before Harris - needing five runs from the last ball bowled by part-time spinner Lachlan Stevens - cleared the long-on rope.

Elliott made 103 and put together decisive partnerships with Daniel Harris (50) and Darren Lehmann (62) but when Elliott and Lehmann fell in consecutive overs the Redbacks almost self-destructed. James Hopes picked up 4 for 38 as he put Queensland back in the box seat and with six balls remaining, the home side needed 11 for an unlikely win.

But the victory over the competition leaders was soured for last-placed South Australia by Tait's injury. He failed to return to the field after pulling up badly during his fifth over and scans confirmed tendinosis in his left hamstring which will keep him out of the Pura Cup match between the two sides starting on Friday. In Tait's absence, Queensland were able to reach 7 for 278.

Hopes laid the foundations for Queensland's solid total with 74 but it was Craig Philipson's 88 from 81 balls - his highest one-day score - that troubled South Australia the most. Ryan Harris took most of the heat with 1 for 72 from ten overs.

With Tait out of action, two other South Australians pushing for national honours were the best of the bowlers. Dan Cullen's 3 for 32 from ten overs - he took the first three wickets of the match - kept the Redbacks in the game, while Mark Cosgrove's part-time medium pace yielded 2 for 28.
