Chris Swan, the Gold Coast swing bowler, was called to help out Queensland's injury-hit squad for the Pura Cup match against New South Wales in 2006-07 and didn't disappoint. On debut, he claimed 2 for 85 and 3 for 56 in the 74-run loss. Despite the strong performance, he was not required again and missed out on a contract at the end of the season. However, he returned for four Pura Cup contests and three FR Cup fixtures, which were highlighted by figures of 4 for 24 against Western Australia on one-day debut. It was enough for Swan to receive a full state deal, which he combines with work as a pest controller. A Queensland junior, he was part of the state's under-age, colts and 2nd XI squads.
