The batsman Laurie Evans has come of age in the Surrey Academy and in the second XI. Making his second XI debut in 2005, Evans showed his potential in 2006. In six games, he hit 139 and 72 in the first game of the season against Essex.
He enjoyed a successful tour to South Africa with the Surrey Academy in the winter of 2006 with some impressive performances. He has captained Surrey at under-17 level and led them to the national final in 2005. In 2006 he graduated from the Surrey Academy and was awarded a contract with the senior team for the 2007.
