Malik completes move to Leicestershire

December 17, 2007

Nadeem Malik had finally completed his move to Leicestershire, signing a one-year deal with the county.

Malik was released by Worcestershire at the end of the summer even though he had one year of his contract remaining. He had a disappointing 2007, scoring 104 runs at 9.45 and taking 25 wickets at 58.80 in 14 first-class outings. In four years at New Road he struggled to make a real impact, as he had done in two seasons before that with Nottinghamshire.

"I feel that this is the best opportunity of his career," said Tim Boon, Leicestershire's head coach. "Nadeem will undergo a training programme building on the foundations he has already laid during the off-season, and he has made it quite clear that he is committed to making this move a success."
