New Zealand Under-19s 116 for 2 (Ravel 51*, de Boorder 35*) trail India Under-19s 124 (Rahane 56, Southee 4-48, Morgan 3-23) by 8 runs An accomplished pace bowling performance put the New Zealand Under-19s firmly in the driving seat on the first day of the final Test against the India Under-19s at Christchurch's Bert Sutcliffe Oval. Put in to bat, the tourists could muster only 124 as medium-pacers Greg Morgan, Timothy Southee and Dean Bartlett ran amok on a good pitch. Morgan, 17, struck a telling hat-trick with the Indians on 84 for 4. Sumeet Sharma and captain Piyush Chawla edged to second slip and Sarabjit Singh, the wicketkeeper, was trapped lbw as New Zealand seized the momentum. Only opener Ajinkya Rahane, with his second consecutive half-century, and Yo Mahesh (30), back from an injury lay-off, offered any resistance. Southee, whose 12 wickets wrecked the Indians at Dunedin, picked up four more to take his series tally to 18, and Bartlett, the Auckland right-arm medium-fast bowler, snared three.
