The doping controversy

Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif, Pakistan's fast bowlers, failed drug tests conducted by the Pakistan Cricket Board a day before their Champions Trophy opener against Sri Lanka. Nandrolone, a banned substance which aids in muscle building, was detected in the players' A sample. A subsequent hearing banned Shoaib for two years and Asif for one only to be overturned a month later. The WADA appealed against this and the issue was referred to the CAS. In its verdict on July 2, the CAS dismissed the appeal. Here is how the story unfolded
