Profile
An opening batsman, Brenton Parchment has been a slow developer. In 2001 when he captained West Indies Under-19s to a series win in England, with fifties in all three matches, much was expected from him but he struggled to build on that success. His maiden first-class hundred did not come until 2004-05 but in 2006-07 he really kicked on, finishing the season with 111 and 168 as he averaged 60.33. He was rewarded with a call-up to the one-day tour of Zimbabwe and made his Test debut against South Africa in Durban. Martin Williamson
