1974

The 111th Almanack was printed with a new photo-typesetting, which allowed Bill Frindall to improve presentation and ease of reference in the Records section. Once again, the editor Norman Preston lamented the "serious decline in batmanship in recent years at Test level in England." Articles celebrated Glenn Turner's joining the elite who have scored 1000 runs before the end of May, and also the "glorious uncertainty" of cricket, following Durham's Gillette Cup defeat of mighty Yorkshire, who bid farewell to playing at Bramall Lane this year. Special tributes were paid to Wilfred Rhodes and Jack Gregory.
